About a month ago, I got an email from Toshina, and I couldn’t help but smile. She told me that she and her fiance were going to be in Salt Lake City, and she wanted me to shoot their engagement session…. and she was ALL about Morgan Trinker! (She also said that she couldn’t help but call me by my full name, and I told her that was A-OK with me, because many times some of my friends here, when I enter a room, will say “Morgantrinker…. DOOOT COOOOM! You know, like the Expedia commercial ditty? So anyway, I guess the point is that I’m getting used to it, and I can’t say that I mind. :)
Well, Toshina lives in Idaho, and her fiance Tim lives in Canada, and they’re getting married in Salt Lake City later this year, and then Toshina will moving to Canada…. So I can’t even IMAGINE doing a long distance engagement, and I was honored that they wanted to spend some of their time together here in Utah in front of my camera. And Tim told me I smelled like this particular brand of Canadian sour candy, and then gave me some to try for myself, which I thought was awesome. My husband, the sour candy fanatic, would have been really jealous.
I loved hanging out with these two, because they both have a really sarcastic sense of humor and made so many hilarious faces throughout our session. And here I thought I was supposed to be the entertainer! :) On with the photos!

Toshina, you’re beautiful…. mmmkay?

Fierce!

After doing some more traditional photographs in the park (to satisfy the more traditional Tim), we headed to a spot I had found while getting lost one day (always the best way to discover new locations) which fit the less-traditional Toshina’s style. It took some convincing to win Tim over to the idea of shooting in the semi-ghetto, but hopefully when he sees these he’ll think it was worth it. :)

Mmmm, love this.

Aaaaand this.

Okay, and these! I’m really pleased with this set because it was at the end of the session, when I sensed that they had reached their being-photographed limit, but I insisted they stick it out for just a little bit more. So glad they did! Love these.

Remember the whole me-loving-strangers-in-photographs thing? Yep, still do. :)

And I saved the REAL gem for last. When we first began our session (which was also the first time we had met), I went through my whole little pep talk about how I work, what we’re going for, what I don’t want from them…. and obviously the cheesy fake I-look-constipated smiles were high on the no-no list. Well, toward the end of the session, Tim was all, let’s do the cheesy faces! And they totally did. How awesome is this?!
If you wanna see the whole session, check out the slideshow! I used Ingrid Michaelson’s “The Way I Am,” because after doing some Facebook stalking researching, I discovered that Toshina likes her. And so do I. So enjoy!
